Flavie Guerrand photographs those close to her in their electric and sexy drifts, from snapshots to party pictures. Her diaristic approach captures fleeting moments where vulnerability and strength intertwine, alongside a sense of play and freedom. There is desire, adrenaline, excess and frustration, sometimes loneliness. Intimacy is as much an inspiration as it is a trigger. Trust and closeness leave room for images that feel unguarded, spontaneous and alive.
With an extensive background in video, she has developed an instinctive photographic practice in which the rhythm and temporality of the moving image continue to resonate. Emerging from the French clandestine rave scene of 1990s and shaped by Berlin’s queer underground culture, she explores the intimacy of the party and the worlds that unfold around it.
